Start with the instructions for your specific route. A UK ETA, a UK visitor visa and a US B1/B2 application have different information needs. Our route guides help you find the relevant official sources.
Build a list before collecting files
Use a checklist with three columns: requested item, where you will obtain it, and whether it is ready. Add items because the official instructions or your circumstances call for them, rather than copying someone else’s application pack.
Keep a clear original
Retain the original document and a separate upload copy. Give working files understandable names, such as passport-photo-page or trip-plan. Avoid putting passport numbers in filenames. Check readability, page order and completeness before sharing.
Check consistency across your information
Compare names, dates and travel details across your forms and documents. If you find a mismatch, investigate it before submitting. Do not alter an official document to make the details agree.
Review before you share
Use the verified application portal for your chosen route. Check the destination website and its privacy information before uploading sensitive material. Share the documents requested for your case, and keep your account credentials private.
Keep a submission record
After submitting, retain the confirmation, reference and receipt. Record any request for more information and the response deadline. Receiving documents or payment is a different stage from a government decision.
Prepare your next step with ETA Visa
Open our document checklists or follow the application process guides. ETA Visa’s document intake is not open yet; please do not email passports or sensitive application files.
